‘I Twit Twooo’

Bloggy Blog II By Producer Jack.

Unforeseen by us all ‘The Wrong Passage’ has sort become the team’s new little baby. It’s like an illegitimate digital child that’s been emailed to our conscience. Suddenly we’re all aware that it needs feeding with words and pictures… and tickling on its tummy with the tapping of keys.

But now we’ve got our little cyber kid we want you to know that we’re determined to become good parents. Late nights and football will now be exchanged with hyperlinks and wet wipes. We hereby pledge to feed him naturally, as God intended, with insight and humour. As I write I assure you he’s clamped on to my teet guzzling away on mouse clicks and space bars.

It is a bit tricky though because while ol’ Russ is a bit of a whiz, I have the technical know how of Willy Fogg. However, since our new arrival appeared I’m trying to change. I got responsibilities now. Which is why I thought I’d succumb to Twitter.

Now in the past, my moto (to not just the internet) has been: “blindly rubbish anything unless you discovered it first”. A healthy attitude you probably won’t agree. Which is why, at least I hope it is that I’m now prone to missing various social events due to my resistance of Facebook.

The problem I felt with all the MyFace stuff was the disposable nature it introduced to documenting our lives and the element of competition it placed around your number of ‘friends’. Amazing how quickly I leapt from that moral high ground. Not only are we now spewing out untold material for the website, but I am now literally glued to my Twitter for any pellet of interest I can gather. I’ve become a proper sucker for it.

Now, all of the above text was written this morning before we left for an interview. Unbeknown to me in this time between then and now Russell has posted on my Twitter. I have just returned to my work email which is now stuffed with over 500 mails notifying me of new followers. Suddenly my cute little toddler shaved his head, slipped on DM boots and is punching me in the face. Funny thing is… I like it.

Sharing your pain. Despite having managed to remain all bah-freaking-humbug about Facebook – so last shred of cyber-disdain still intact – rustyrockets has got me all hooked on Twitter.

When do we get to see a piccie of your famous (infamous?) new hat?

    Thanks for the blog-fodder :)

I feel a little bit like that too, last night I told myself to try and stay away from this web page just for a week or two, but I guess I just could’t do it; I’m here again tapping away.

Twitter is dangerously addictive … it does take over your life.

    In a good way, obviously!

Great blog – really enjoy your writing

Thanks for committing to this blog!

Oftentimes, celebrity blogs start out well, but slip into absence.

    Don’t become a dead-beat dad!

It seems like your “team Russ” is really into this though, so I have a feeling this baby will grow into the blog equivelent of Barack Obama, or more realistically, one of those stable, down-home celebrities, like Taylor Swift.

    Thanks again!!!

Thanks for keeping up with this blog. I only went and got a MySpace and Facebook because my Live Journal and Insane Journal are not as busy as they used to be. I could give a rats ass, personally, about how many “friends” I have on my list. I go for quality, not quantity where that is concerned. But then, I’m not a celebrity. Go figure my attitude.

I think it’s all fine and well that people are Twittering, I guess. But me, I think my computer sites, my e-mail and such is quite enough of my life to be spending talking to people who I can’t interact with on a personal level. If I succumbed to Twitter, I don’t think I’d have a life at all. Plus, I don’t use my cell phone all that much. Such a dinosaur I am.

But do keep us abreast of Russell and the rest of you. I think this more personal, intimate updating is better, myself. Twitter is so quick and flip. I’m a writer by nature, what can you do?

Take care, enjoy life, stay sane! :D

I think it’s awesome that the team is so dedicated to the fans. Are we sometimes obsessive….absof*%kinglutely! But you blogging – twittering – facebooking – makes us feel like someone is listening. Or maybe we’re all losers and need a life?
    Either way, Thanks.
    Much love from Philadelphia, US

Haha that is the exact approach I have towards web-based thing. Lucky for me I stumbled across twitter before any of my other friends, so I shit all over their amount of tweets.

I am quite enjoying interacting with the digital baby, and glad that you are all growing to be fantastic parent.

Look forward to the show this evening at the Palais. Should be brilliant =D.

it may be your baby, but its becoming my mother. i need to feed from her each day, and getting plentiful, thank you. Gonna end up fat.

And how can you be addicted to twitter my dear jack?? you never hardly tweet…and barely answer your tweeters calls. You tweet rusty, yet you are with him on tour? strange!

  10. Eva K. says:

Agree with you, but very irritated by the fact that you live without facebook. (Come on, it’s FACEBOOK,mate! F A C E B O O K!)
    =DD
Facebook, Myspace, Studivz (weird german version of Facebook), Twitter, and this site….are all DEVILS. Devils I love, though.

In another tought, Would one day Nicola post her point of view? I am really intrested on what she has to say

  12. Stephanie says:

thank you for that detailed picture of what twitter is to you, I will be living with that image in my head for awhile…lmao

I am hopelessly addicted to myspace, No I am not a friend collecter, but it does help to keep up with friends that have left my fair city and gone out in the world, and they can keep up with me and my kids through pics and emails and blogs. according to my friend J that I went to high school with and now is a Rockstar says it helps him to feel grounded cause he can watch the kids “he knew since they were born” grow up. and he dosent have to worry about timezones and if we are home, he just logs in and there we are.

I am becoming addicted to twitter as well, if anything watching the byplay between you and Rusty sends me in to giggles. I dont have many friends on twitter yet but hoping that will change soon.

    Much Love,
    Steph

Btw, have you heard of the band “The Fray”? you are both down under right now.

  14. Andrea says:

we all submit to the giant “friend” machines eventually. i enjoy the blogging immensely and not a day goes by where i don’t stop in to see the new posts. keep up the good work!

    xxxooo from sunny Ft. Lauderdale

  15. Stefany- mentalvertigo says:

I don’t have a myspace or facebook since I don’t want to feel obligated to respond to people I don’t care for. It’s lunacy, I tell ye! Therefore, I got a Twitter because people are kind of on their own. More… personal I guess.

I also got this damn thing because I wanted to follow Russ. It’s my new addiction.

Keep up on the blogging! Tis good so far! x
