  1. Charles Frith says:

This is great though it’s amusing to hear Russell and Will laughing at Guy de Bord for tottering around Paris yet Will’s pyschogeography walks aren’t thought of the same way :)
    Great interview.

  2. Chris says:

    1. Peter Sissons – any/every mentioning of Russ’s crush on Sissons.
    2. Noely Noely – not strictly a guest, of course (“he only lives round the corner”).

  3. Dave says:

Mike from Neighbours (aka Guy Pearce) was a pretty classic guest.

“What’s that s’posed to mean Scott?!”

Also, Ronnie Wood was a lovely guy.

  4. Janet says:

All Russell’s interviews were good, The Fonz when he did his signature AYYYYY at the end of the interview, Russell and Matt were so excited! Too many laugh out load podcast moments to mention. My favorite (not a celebrity, but should be) was Lionel and his Secret Santa problem with Pat and as Russell puts it, Filthy animal porn gift!!!! so funny.

  5. Kem says:

I miss this bloody show so much. I listened to the Cilla Black one the other day and even as a straight woman … I had a stirring. What a voice.

    COME BACK TO THE AIRWAVES.

  6. Ashley says:

I think I liked Paul Mckenna the most, when Russ and Matt went on about how he said he’d like to have sex with a monkey if he had to choose any animal. Hilarious every time. All the interviews were good though. Great show.

  7. Tom T says:

Chrissie Hynde’s Appearance was great. The interview didn’t go too well but it was really funny as a result.

Also, the Duncan Bannatyne debacle with his agent was also hilarious. “Why d’you throw me in the drink Duncan?”

Finally, the less famous interviews were also brilliant, for example the real and fake interviews with the Major of Blackpool.

Just thinking back over the show makes you remember how great it was. Hope they bring it back soon.

    Mayor not Major

  9. starleigh says:

Morrissey on the April 2008 show in LA … when he made Russell sing. That was a good one. The interview with Martin Clunes in August 2008 was unexpectedly hilarious. Will Self was one of my favorites as well .. very interesting, and it was the reason I picked up “London: The Biography” by Peter Ackroyd.

So many good guests, but the main thing that always kept me entertained was just Russell & Matt together. Nothing can top that.

  10. starleigh says:

Oh, also the voice of Snuffleupagus on the show from Boulder … I was just listening to that the other night. I loved Russell & Matt talking about how much he sounded like Tom Waits. That whole show was good, like when they were talking about being in a gas station in the midwest with the sherriff and his taser. As an American it’s interesting to me to hear them commenting on what it’s like to be in America!

  11. Dov says:

Mike from neighbors was the best interview. But also liked hearing trevor lock being abused weekly by russ and matt. I herd him on some underground podcast the other week and he sounded like a shell of a man now i worry for physiological damagethat may of occurred. On the show Trev talked about going and performing in ppls lounge rooms in Burma or some thing……

  12. KO says:

Oh yeah the Morrissey one how could I forget Russell’s reaction to being made to sing by his hero and then shouting like a football hooligan and as soon as Morrissey leaves immediately blaming Matt. Comedy.
    Too many to remember!

  13. @seanhope says:

    5. Max Beesley
    4. Jimmy Saville
    3. Richard Griffiths
    2. Anthony Daniels
    1. Guy Pearce / Henry Winkler

  14. Jay says:

The creator of Bagpuss – Oliver Postgate
    C3PO – Anthony Daniels
    Max Beesley
    Morrissey
    Ronnie Wood
    Jonny Lee Miller
    Simon Amstell
    Noel Fielding
    Stephen Graham
    Stephen Merchant
    Paul McKenna

    - All of the above had a great rapport with Russell, but nothing compares to the double act of Russ & Matt, or the trio of Russell, Matt & Noel.

I sincerely wish that they bring back the radio show, as a fan i feel isolated and abandoned by Russell since it’s end and i’m sure i speak for many in saying so. The radio show was the perfect outlet for his genius anarchic ramblings and formed a very strong foundation for his fanbase, sadly that is crumbling away.
This comment doesn’t apply to the talkSPORT shows which were frankly a total and utter shambles and if anything damaged his reputation – whoever gave them the all clear to be broadcast should go the way of Nick the vicars son – SACKED!
I am aware that he is now happily married and a busy man, but surely the odd podcast could be released when him, Matt & Noel are free. It was quite clear they loved doing it and i’m sure there’s many like me who will happily have the gaping radio show hole in their heart filled.

  15. MAS says:

I’m listening to the podcasts now; I’m up to when Russell is in Hawaii shooting, ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’. The whole back catalogue of podcasts is improvisational genius. I wish I had known of its existence when it was current and like everyone else I would love a new series of podcasts to be made. With his growing American profile I’m sure Russell could call up many new celeb-friends to be cheeky with on the phone.

I can’t single out a single interview I like the best at the moment as I’m only half way through, but Matt and Russell needling each other with a smattering of drunken Noel added is enough gold by itself. The guests seem like sequined flotsam in the Titanic’s wake.
(In this analogy I guess the Andrew Sachs “scandal” is an iceberg…dam!)
