Here is Russell reading from a chapter of Booky Wook 2 – this time it’s personal just after he had written it in a hotel in New York. He describes his final visit to his childhood home in Grays, Essex.
Booky Wook 2 is now available in paperback in the UK and Australia. We recommend buying from your local independent book shop – find one here

I loved that part of the book. It reminded me of when I went back to my childhood home. So familiar and yet so strange. Not sure if you read these comments Russell, but if you do I’d like to thank you for your work. You make me laugh and think, what a wonderful combination.
So good to see you recommending *independent* bookshops. Thank you for that.
(Incidentally… I read it in hardback – and it’s excellent.)
Very poignant hearing Russell actually reading that part aloud, think all of us who spent our whole childhood in one place can relate to that, I never go back past our old house now, too sad but Russell’s reading stirred up fond and sad memories, I could listen to him read aloud all day or just waffle on x x

Thanks, Martyn (I bought your hilarious DVD for £7.99 a few years ago)
Nice bit of writing, enhanced by the video footage.
But for me the real revelation was yet to come; as YouTube (as is it’s way) offered me other interesting clips about Russell. One of which was 4 minutes of Russell smiling and grinning about the new HP Touch Pad! …………….
Dear oh dear, oh dear….. Russell you fucker, I actually respected you. You were got yourself kicked off the artistic roll call.
I know for a fact that you once laughted in agreement at this clip. It’s so sad that it’s now about you:

I’m not angry just disappointed.
Russell could you (in all your free time) have an assistant follow you around to begin creating a Russell Brand Dictionary.
Cheers, Suz
The first time I saw you, I thought ‘who is this man with such an adorable accent and voice?’ Then I read about who you are and what you’ve experienced in your childhood. I felt so sad and just wanted to cry. Because I know how you felt, what you thought and how unhappy you have been. I feel the same way now. Even I’m unhappy and am leading a life like how yours has been…I’m just 19 years old, but sometimes I feel like I’ve lived enough. There’s so much darkness in my life and that’s why I genuinely understand you. I have deep respect for you. For holding on, keeping your head up to eventually find happiness. I can already see you as a little boy in your room, asking yourself when you will be happy and if you even deserve to be happy… I’m experiencing the same thing here and sometimes I don’t know if I’ve got the strength to go on. Since I’ve read about you and what you’ve been through, I have the feeling that I’m not alone. You don’t know me, but you have a great influence on me. I am so glad and happy and proud to see that you’re doing well. You are such a cheerful, happy-go-lucky man, despite your traumatic youth. You are an example to me and I hope you’ll remain happy! Never change the way you are now! Your very existence is a little light in my dark life…
I could not love you and your work any more!
P.S. Are you wearing a pale link thong because if you are, I was wrong, I could in fact love you more! <3
I just finished Booky Wook 2. The next-to-the-last bit, about the herpes, made me go, “Bah ha ha haaa!” My co-workers asked, “Russell, again?” I responded, “No. Katy Perry!” Then the last bit made go, “Boo hoo hooo.” Very sweet. Good stuff. Thanks for sharing. Best of luck.
I love your velvet underground shirt.
Reality TV personality Audrina Patridge looekd cute as Mrs. Claus. However, it is 2011. Wanna guess what’s still missing? Cleavage! Post drastic reduction procedure sagging strikes again! No boost to the bust this time. Audrina’s former adorable signature cleavage no where to be found!
