Pantheonism

Here is a recording from the Booky Wook 2 Tapes that didn’t make it into the final draft of the book – Russell expounding his views on the moral culpability of the Greek Gods (recorded in London 2009).

Russell: This might actually explain why Europe is on the brink of financial collapse—-they are caught in the influence of Greek goat-gods. Please submit your idea to The Financial Times.

Your wisdom is precisely accurate. I think you would enjoy reading Timothy Keller’s, A Reason For God. In virtually all religious faiths, the idea of a supreme being is figuratively on a mountain and you must come to him. Only in Christianity do we see the instance of God putting himself into our shoes and coming to us. In fact, even though Jesus was God himself, he did not place equality with God as thing to be grasped, rather took the form of a common, disadvantaged man and humbled himself to the point of death. It is something so groundbreaking and breathtaking of a possibility, that in 2000 years, the world has still not forgotten it.
